You cannot get close enough to touch her even if they'd allow such a thing--your wheelchair is too wide to navigate the narrow path up to Kallen's cell. But that doesn't mean you cannot make certain your prisoner--your old friend--is alright. You've asked that she be provided with clothes befitting a noble of Britannia, or at the very least, those befitting a friend of the viceroy. Just because she's kept behind a thick wall of bullet- and shock-proof glass doesn't mean she cannot be treated in a civilized manner, no matter what the others said.
"I can't believe it...to think that Nunnally was really a princess," Kallen says, again.
"I'm sorry to have lied to you."
"Same goes for me." Perhaps. You continue on smoothly, not even pausing to allow the idea of an awkward pause.
"I miss the days at Ashford... I was told not to meet with Milly or any of the others, so Suzaku really is the only one I can talk to. They also say that my brother is missing..."
A brief pause; you imagine Kallen shifts--smiles. "What kind of brother was he? I had a brother of my own..."
You're happy that you can talk about your brother--finally, to someone, anyone--but especially to someone who doesn't hate him...someone who remembers not only who he was, but that he was.
Someone enters during your talk--Suzaku, from the stride. He's angry; his tones are clipped as he asks you for permission to borrow "prisoner 107". You allow him his interrogation; friendship does not override work, but you leave with mixed feelings for the friends you knew, and the parts of them you hadn't known.
